The Greatest Gift
The greatest gift I could ever receive
was given by the One from the heaven He chose to leave.
This precious gift is worth more than any silver and gold;
and its matchless value to me continues to unfold.
I took of this gift many years ago
when I realized I needed Him and it was time to let go.
To let go of the weight that was burdening me,
the weight of my sins from which only He could set me free.
Born of a virgin two thousand years ago,
unlike any other the world has ever known.
The prophets wrote of Him years before He came,
unto us a Son is given and Emmanuel shall be His name.
God with us, He walked the earth, fully man and fully divine,
setting free the captives, as in their sin they pined.
This precious gift cannot be bought,
but a spiritual war is being fought,
a war for souls that’s being raged,
a war that’s been here since the dawn of human age.
No, this gift is freely given to all who will partake,
to partake in the promise that only He could make.
The promise is the gift of grace given to Him by God alone,
the One on whom God’s magnificent glory shone,
when to the shepherds an angel proclaimed,
“There is a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, born to you this day.”
I can’t give this gift to you, for it’s only His to give,
but if you accept His gift, you’ll know what it means to live,
to live a life set free from sin,
to be truly born again.
For God did not send His only Son to condemn us,
but that through Him He might save us.
The only thing required to receive this gift,
and no, He won’t force you to take it,
is to believe in Jesus the Christ, Mighty God, Prince of Peace.
Oh, how I pray that of this gift you’ll choose to receive,
for if you do, you shall not perish but have eternal life,
and live the way God intended it be, eternity without sin and strife,
full of His peace, mercy, grace, hope, and love,
with the One God sent from up above. ✝️
